That question set the tone for the AI Career Navigator Workshop, held for the Grade 8 to 10 students of Hegemony Global School in collaboration with Mentoria. One of India's highest-rated career counselling platforms, Mentoria has guided over 3.75 lakh students and works with 220+ corporate partners, including ONGC, Axis Bank, ITC and Britannia, as well as 180+ schools and colleges. It brought a rare, ground-level view of where the world of work is heading.
Over the session, students met careers they had never heard of, in fields that are emerging, unconventional and often thrilling. The conversation then turned inward. A love of sketching, a knack for solving puzzles or simple curiosity about how things work began to look like the first steps of a real path. Students also saw how AI and changing industries are opening doors that earlier generations never had.
Then came the moment that changed the mood in the room. A
prompt was typed, and within seconds AI had composed a piece of music. Another
prompt, and a video took shape. One more, and a flight ticket was booked with
no human hand involved. The surprise on the students' faces said it all: what
had seemed like science fiction was working right in front of them.
Students left the session without a single fixed answer, and
that was the point. What they carried out was a wider horizon, and the
understanding that curiosity and adaptability will serve them well in a world
still being written.
