On 30th May 2026, a structured session on CBSE Kaushal Bodh
was conducted for students of Grades 6 to 8, introducing this significant
vocational skill education initiative aligned with NEP 2020.
Kaushal Bodh is designed to go beyond academic knowledge -
promoting practical learning, competency development, life skills,
employability skills, creativity, innovation and career awareness through
activity-based learning. The session outlined a clear grade-wise learning
progression, each with a distinct and purposeful focus.
Grade 6 centres on self-discovery and foundational skills -
communication, teamwork, digital awareness, environmental responsibility and
basic financial literacy. Activities include role plays, poster making, group
discussions, awareness campaigns and reflective journals. Grade 7 builds on
this foundation by strengthening employability and innovation skills, with
students exploring entrepreneurship, technology, leadership, health and social
responsibility through collaborative projects, case studies and community
service. Grade 8 moves toward career awareness and vocational exposure across
fields such as Information Technology, Agriculture, Healthcare, Design and
Innovation and Human Services, supported by project-based and experiential
learning.
Teachers in this framework serve as facilitators and mentors - designing hands-on, inquiry-based learning experiences that encourage participation and skill development.
The assessment structure was also outlined - a continuous,
competency-based model: Oral Presentation and Viva (30%), Activity Book and
Tasks (30%), Teacher Observation (20%), Portfolio (10%) and Written Assessment
(10%). Assessment looks not just at what students know, but how they apply
skills, collaborate, communicate and demonstrate responsible behaviour.
