Today marked the beginning of a new initiative at the school - the launch of the School Choir.
Students were briefed about the choir and what it entails,
followed by a music presentation by our professional instructor, who will be
leading the choir going forward. Post presentation, they also focused on vocal
improvement and gave students a clear picture of what their journey with the
choir would look like.
This is a first-time initiative that expands the creative options available to students, which were previously limited to dance. The choir will now be guided by an experienced lead, bringing structured musical learning into the school's growing list of student activities.
For the day, the basics of rhythm and music were covered in a
manner that was accessible and engaging for students stepping into this for the
first time. The session was interactive - students responded to questions and
drew on their existing knowledge, making it a two-way exchange rather than a
one-sided introduction. Our instructor then engaged the students throughout,
keeping the energy in the room participative and attentive. Students were also
given a heads-up that choir is a collective experience at its core - built on
listening, learning and growing together as a group.
An update from our DEAR Program
The day also saw the usual Reading Express session carry on as it does, with students and teachers alike engaged and absorbed in their reading - a quiet, but consistent part of the school's daily rhythm.
